About Me
Kia ora! I am based in the Instruction & Outreach department in Gleeson Library. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Auckland University of Technology, a Master of Library & Information Science from the University of Washington, and a Master of Indigenous Studies from the University of Otago.
Work
As the Open Education Librarian, I help students and faculty find, adapt, and use Open Access materials. I also teach information literacy classes; and serve as the liaison librarian for Sociology and Critical Diversity Studies.
In my early career, I was supported by various programmes and honours from institutions including the American Library Association and Association of Research Libraries. In turn, I'm interested in supporting my early-career colleagues and their professional development in these programmes. In 2021 I was awarded the ACRL WGSS Award for Significant Achievement in Women & Gender Studies Librarianship; and in 2023 I was recognized with the UW iSchool Graduate of the Last Decade (GOLD) Alumni Impact Award.
Interests
My research interests include examining Indigenous perspectives within librarianship; including historical trauma, Indigenous Data Sovereignty, and cultural considerations within the Open Access movement.
Beyond the library, you'll likely find me catching Pokémon, reading Māori and Pasifika poetry, or watching Antiques Roadshow.
