Video Requests
Thousands of videos, clips and other audiovisual materials are available in the Library's collections, listed on our main guide to video and streaming media. They include thousands of titles made newly available to support online learning.
The library's guide to Linking to Library Resources explains how to use permalinks for the best access to streaming video titles. Also see our instructions to embed streaming video titles from Alexander Street or Films on Demand into Canvas course pages.
To place a video on course reserves for your students, see our guide to Course Reserves for Faculty.
USF faculty, librarians and staff may request that the library acquire new film or video content by completing the Faculty Video Request Form. Please allow 2-3 weeks for library staff to process your request. In addition to the video collections listed in our guide, other sources of video content available to USF faculty are below.
- KanopyPlease use the Faculty Video Request Form to request that the library license a video from Kanopy. Thousands of streaming films available by faculty advance request, usually for one-year licenses. (License expiration dates are noted in our catalog records.)
- Lumière: Berkeley Language Center Library of Film & ClipsA collection of streaming films and clips -- in English and many other languages -- that USF faculty, by advance request, may make available to their students, from the Berkeley Language Center at UC Berkeley. USF faculty members may apply for an account on the Lumière website; contact Debbie Benrubi for more information or assistance.
- Swank Digital CampusFaculty may request that the library license videos from Swank Digital Campus, a streaming film database containing motion pictures and documentaries from major studios. Like our other video databases, Swank Digital Campus allows students to view assigned films outside the classroom.
