Gleeson Library is online and here to support our community. Library faculty and staff are working remotely Monday – Friday 8AM – 6PM, as well as evenings and weekends. Our 24/7 chat with a librarian service we offer in partnership with other Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities will remain up and running for the foreseeable future.

Dear Gleeson Library users and community members,

Gleeson Library has transitioned to offering services online. The library building will be closed until at least April 7th 2020.

During this time USF Students, Faculty and Staff will have access to a dedicated team of librarians and staff who are working remotely. We are here for you.

You can find a detailed list of the online library services and resources we have available today for USF students, faculty and staff on the Gleeson Library COVID-19 update page.

Library faculty and staff are working remotely Monday - Friday 8AM - 6:00PM as well as evenings and Saturdays as needed. Our 24/7 chat with a librarian service we offer in partnership with other Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities will remain up and running for the foreseeable future.

With the City & County of San Francisco issuing a "shelter in place" order on March 16th, and subsequently the Governor of California ordering all Californians to "stay home" on March 19th, I felt it was important to update the USF community on how Gleeson Library is responding.

We will continue to update members of the community with information during this unprecedented and rapidly evolving situation. If you have questions or need to learn more about USF’s campus-wide responses, please see USF's Coronavirus Updates and Resources page.

Sincerely,

—shawn

March 17, 2020

In accordance with the latest university updates, Gleeson Library is offering online services and resources only. Effective Tuesday March 17, the library building is closed until further notice.

March 14, 2020

The university has announced several major changes to campus operations. Until further notice, Gleeson Library will remain open with limited hours. These hours are subject to change due to the rapidly evolving conditions around coronavirus.

March 11, 2020

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Gleeson Library has changed its operating hours until further notice. During this time, we encourage users to utilize the library's many online resources and services when possible.

Dear Gleeson Library users and community members,

In response to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, Gleeson Library continues to work in close partnership with the University and our campus partners to take the necessary steps to protect and safeguard our community. The safety and wellbeing of our library users and staff is our utmost priority.

Taking into consideration the public health recommendations for social distancing, USF is planning for the continuation of instruction online and potential reduced staff capacity in the short-term. Accordingly, Gleeson Library will change its operating hours as follows until further notice:

Monday - Friday: 8:00AM - 6:00PM
Saturday: 10:00AM - 6:00PM
Sunday: closed
24 hour Monihan Atrium access is suspended.

Additional updates to Library operations will be posted on our web site home page and social media channels as they are updated.  As some of the most highly utilized public spaces on campus, Gleeson Library is a natural hub for our campus community to meet, study and access research materials. It is our goal to maintain operations as much as possible while mitigating the risk to users.

During this time, we encourage users to utilize the many online services available as much as possible. Most resources are available electronically and librarians are available 24/7 to help users navigate search and other remote tools to access materials and services.

A dedicated web page outlining remote resources and services is now available.

Gleeson Library encourages all staff and users to review and follow the guidance and information outlined on the USF’s Coronavirus Updates and Resources Page. Most importantly, we highly encourage users to adhere to the guidance of frequent hand-washing, especially when visiting the Library and using public resources like computer workstations.

In addition, following public health guidelines, we ask that anyone (staff or users) experiencing any symptoms of illness stay home.

We greatly appreciate everyone’s cooperation and flexibility as we navigate this evolving situation, and we will continue to post new information on our web site and other communications channels as updates occur.

Sincerely,

—shawn
