I grew up in Rockville, Maryland. I have a B.A. in Economics and a B.A. in Politics from Oberlin College, a Master of Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina, and a Master of Library Science from the University of Maryland.

Before joining USF in 2002, I worked at McKeldin Library (University of Maryland) in the Government Documents Department and at the World Resources Institute, an environmental think tank. Prior to becoming a librarian I worked for several years in the field of community development finance at the Institute for Community Economics.
