Research Grants

Academic Library Impact Research Grant

The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) invites applications from librarians and information professionals seeking to conduct research that will demonstrate library contributions to student learning and success. As of spring 2020, this program has been suspended.

 

Beta Phi Mu Scholarships, Awards & Fellowships

Each year, Beta Phi Mu provides multiple scholarships and awards for study and research related to Library and Information Science, in addition to administering the Eugene Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships. The 2023-24 Beta Phi Mu scholarship season is now OPEN. The scholarship deadline is February 1, 2024. To apply, please complete the online application.

 

The Carnegie-Whitney Grant

The Carnegie-Whitney Grant provides grants for the preparation of popular or scholarly reading lists, indexes and other guides to library resources that will be useful to users of all types of libraries. Deadline for submission of the proposal is November 3, 2023.

 

Diversity Research Grant

The ALA Office for Diversity, Literacy, and Outreach Services sponsors this grant program which began in 2002 to address critical gaps in the knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion issues within library and information science. This grant is currently on hiatus.

 

Sheila Suen Lai Research Grant

The Sheila Suen Lai Research Grant (hereinafter ‘Lai’s Grant’) encourages APALA members to engage in research activities with a contribution toward library and information science in general and APA librarianship in particular. 

 

USF Grants and Funds

Grant applications are accepted two times a year. Deadlines are November 1st for fall semester and April 1st for spring semester or the following Monday if the 1st lands on a weekend.
