Reimi Akin

Evening/Weekend Circulation/Reserves Assistant

About Me

I was born in Japan, but grew up in San Diego.  In May 2018, I finished my undergraduate degree here at University of San Francisco, with a B.A. in Communication Studies (and a minor in Media Studies). As a mixed-race individual, much of my academic research was rooted in exploring and understanding identities of those who are mixed race.

I worked at Gleeson Library throughout my entire undergrad career as an Access Services Student Assistant.  In 2018, I became a staff member working as an Evening/ Weekend Circulation/ Reserves Coordinator. In the past, I have worked with art non-profits including the de Young/ Legion of Honor museums and SFFILM.

Professionally, I aim to grow my knowledge in library circulation and continue making Gleeson Library the best spot on campus! Personally, my interests include exploring all things art and film as well as slowly turning my apartment into a greenhouse.
