We Are University Archives

The University of San Francisco Archives serves as the university's institutional and cultural memory and as an educational resource for the USF community by collecting, preserving, and making accessible USF history. We collect records with enduring historical, cultural, or evidentiary value of the administrative offices, colleges, schools, departments, committees, and student organizations of USF. Some examples of what you will find in the archives are yearbooks, student publications, scrapbooks, photographs, memorabilia, and campus department records.

The records of student experiences that document the organizations, activities, and programs on campus comprising student life are an essential part of USF history, but are underrepresented in the archival collections. The goals of the University Archives are to grow the collections to more accurately reflect the richness of current student life as well as provide guidance to you on how to organize and preserve your USF stories.

Of particular interest are records that document:

  • The history and development of student organizations
  • Significant programs, activities, and events of student organizations
  • Positions and actions of student governments and councils
  • Student activism
  • Student involvement in service activities
  • Outreach efforts and community involvement
  • Greek life
