Videos & Streaming Media for Faculty

Guide to media collections and requests for faculty.

Requesting new video titles

Please use the form below for library video requests, and bear the following in mind:

  • Making the best use of financial resources means that we carefully weigh every request.
  • Please allow 3-4 weeks for library staff to process your request before you need a film.
  • Please check our collections for films before placing a request.
  • If you plan in advance, films and clips from many DVDs that we own or order can be made available for streaming to your students.
  • Remember that DVDs are higher quality than streaming, they usually cost the library less, and we own them permanently. Students, faculty and staff may borrow DVD players at the Library Circulation Desk (front desk).
  • Streaming videos are usually available to libraries only for term-limited licensing.
  • Most streaming platforms that are marketed to consumers (Netflix, etc.) have terms of use that prohibit sharing of the videos, so these films may be unavailable to libraries.
  • Many films are not available in streaming format. For these, permission from copyright holders must be secured before entire films can be streamed.
